St. Michael the Archangel in victory over the devil has been a familiar subject in sacred art for centuries. I wanted to revisit this subject with a fresh take and a novel composition. In this rendition, the upper half features St. Michael’s serene focus on the light of God; almost oblivious to the physical tension, spiritual battle and triumph taking place in the lower half.
