Inspired by medeival illuminated manuscripts, “O Dulcis” features a bold border, gold lettering, halos, and other accents, and medeival dress on Our Lady. The strawberries and pomegranates are traditionally symbolistic of Mary’s motherhood and sanctity, as bees have symbolised her virginity. These symbols also contribute to Mary’s unspoiled sweetness, as the title refers to. The title is sourced from the last line of the ancient and well-loved hymn, Salve Regina.
