Christ in Glory, shows Jesus Christ seated in the highest of spiritual realms, surrounded by faintly visible winged seraphs in the dark blue circle around His throne, and in the four corners, the symbols of the authors of the four gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. This icon makes use of the symbolism in Ezekiel’s vision of the wheel within a wheel, and the four winged creatures with the face of a man, a lion, an ox, and an eagle, which later became the symbols of the four Evangelists. The background elements are deliberately subtle, so that Christ may be most prominent.
