Alicia Lloyd

St. Paul the Hermit

This is a portrait of Saint Paul the Hermit, after the painting St. Anthony Abbot and St. Paul the Hermit (1635-1638) by the Spanish painter Velazquez.

The story behind this piece is the idea of retrieving to solitude and find God, Who completely fills all your needs, which is a great inspiration. St. Paul the Hermit (Egypt 230 AD) found all he needed living a very simple life trusting God for absolutely everything. A bird would bring him bread everyday which shows that God is always behind us. We just need to trust Him. St. Paul the Hermit lived till the age of 115 years old.

Lloyd, Alicia. St. Paul the Hermit. Houston, TX, 2024.
